WORK WITH ME
First session
Firstly I suggest meeting so you can see if you think you would like to work together. I will ask what brings you therapy at this time, what you hope to get from the sessions and about your previous experiences of therapy. It might seem that I am asking you a lot of questions, but it is also an opportunity to ask any questions you might have about me and how I work. Until you decide you would like to continue I won’t ask for a full history as I understand how emotionally draining it can be revisit difficult memories. I suggest meeting with two or three different therapists before deciding who feels like the best fit for you.

How long and how often?

If you decide you would like to continue we will agree a regular weekly time to meet. Initially I suggest 6 sessions and then we can check in with where we are at. Some issues can be worked through quite quickly, others will take longer.

In person counselling
​
I work from my home office in Lewes or from comfortable rooms in central Brighton. We can also meet for outdoor therapy in Lewes. Working outdoors offers a different perspective to the more traditional setting allowing you to explore your relationship with yourself and the world around you. We can either sit or walk and talk, either way I suggest meeting once in an indoor setting so we can discuss whether it's a suitable option for you.
Online counselling

Online therapy is effective and can easily be fitted around busy lifestyles or if you live abroad. Make sure you have a confidential space where you won't be interrupted and with a good internet connection. It's best to use a computer but if you are using your phone find a spot where you can rest it so you can be comfortable.

How the work evolves
​
This will depend a lot on you. There is no magic wand. Often a kind, compassionate ear is all you need to help find a fresh perspective. However I will also gently push and challenge you. Sometimes you will feel better after a session, sometimes you will feel emotionally drained. I encourage you to reflect on what we discuss during the week and perhaps bring something you would like to talk about each session. Ultimately you will get out what you put in.

Fees
I charge £45 for a 50 minute session. Some low cost places available.
