ABOUT ME
BACKGROUND
It took me a while to find my place in the world. After many years of living and working around the world I am happily back in Sussex where it all began. Training in psychotherapy is the culmination of personal insights, life experience and professional skills gained along the way. My background is in outdoor leadership, health, wellbeing and tourism.
I am particularly interested in the healing power of being in nature and using the body as a resource. Words help us put meaning to our experiences, to understand the power of our narrative and the patterns that bind us but our body often holds unconscious memories and so we can express part of ourself that doesn't often get seen. I believe that it is through the body that real lasting change comes.

MY APPROACH
Whatever brings you to counselling I don’t see you as broken. I believe we are all unique, messy and imperfect human beings doing our best with what we have and that however hard life feels right now, we all have the potential to change and heal at any point in our lives. Counselling is a space for you and all your feelings so you can unburden yourself and not have to figure everything out on your own. Rather than 'fixing' you, I see our work as a collaboration. I believe that lasting change comes from within so I will always listen to you, sometimes challenge you and actively encourage you to take responsibility for your own healing.

Research consistently shows that it is the quality of the relationship you have with your therapist rather than the actual modality. That said my main training is in Transactional Analysis (TA) which is an integrative, humanistic and person centred model. I also combine elements of interpersonal neurobiology, body psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems and mindfulness.
